This adorable little vintage stool was brought to me by a friend who found it at the side of the road. I can’t believe what people throw out! haha I think it may have been some sort of music stool in the past as it appeared to once have storage and the top lifted up. I didn’t want to take on a whole woodworking project and restore the storage part of it, I just wanted to make it functionable and pretty. What was great is I have been looking for something for my front entryway to sit on and I didn’t have much space so this stool was perfect.
Here is the before and after:
It was in rough shape and I had to pull out what felt like a million staples and nails. I gave it a light sanding and painted it with a mix of Annie Sloan Old White and Pure White chalk paint. I painted a leftover piece of wood I had from my Industrial Chic Coffee Table DIY (post found HERE) then I added a piece of foam and covered it with some fun material. It looks messy from underneath but you won’t see it when I attach it to the stool.
It was the first time I have ever used nail heads and It was very time consuming and as you can see it wasn’t perfect but overall I was ok with how they turned out.
It was a fun little project and now I have a place where guests can sit and put on their shoes! 🙂
