It is an ongoing debate amongst the design world weather or not faux florals are a good or bad idea. Fresh flowers will brighten up any home and add a freshness to your décor. They are a key item designers and decorators use when staging or styling a home but eventually they wilt and we have to throw them out. I wish I could have lovely bouquets throughout my home at all times, but realistically that isn’t an option. I will buy fresh flowers if I am having a party or if guests are staying with us I like to put fresh flowers in our guest room. If they are on sale at the local grocery store I will also grab a bunch but that is probably the only time I have fresh flowers in my home so the idea of faux bouquets was appealing to me. I looked around at local stores like Michaels and Homesense but I couldn’t find any that didn’t look cheap and fake. Then I came across these beautiful faux bouquets from the John-Richard Collection at Horchow.
These are so amazingly gorgeous and look so realistic but the price is little over my budget. Arrangement range from $250 – $500.
However, this is an easy DIY for anyone, all you need is some high end faux flowers, a glass vase and some faux craft water which you can find at any craft store. Here is an easy step by step video on how to make a faux floral arrangement with acrylic water (click here)
I think the key here is to make sure you buy really good faux flowers which I like to go to Chintz and Company to buy (check out my post on Easy Designer Trick for Orchids) and keep it simple and don’t over do it. This is a project that is definitely on my list of things to do!
What do you think about faux florals? Yay or Nay?
