I had a client contact me about a month ago looking for a few pieces of furniture to be painted. She owns a pet salon and opening up a retail Pet Boutique beside it. I did a piece for her before and was thrilled to be able to do some more. She had a few requests of black and white and wanted a few patterned pieces but gave me full freedom to do what I like. I was excited and love the creative process of transforming furniture.
There were 8 pieces total and I thought I would share them with you.
The first piece I did was a dresser with harlequin diamonds and stripes (see the before and after here)
And here they are transformed. This one I painted to match the first dresser.
Here are two of the smaller pieces. I just loved the lines on both of these.
We found this dresser on Used Victoria and thought it would make a great cash desk. The back just needed to be remove the drawers modified but it was the perfect size. I think this piece was my favorite because the lines and shape are so beautiful and painted in the white was gorgeous. The pictures don’t do it any justice. I painted the hardware the same colour to make them blend in and just look like a pretty detail.
Two more little side tables that turned out super cute.
Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get a before picture of the hutch because it was so big and I painted one piece at a time. It was stunning in it’s original form and was made by Gibbard Furniture so it was solid wood and very well built. But it didn’t go with the black and white theme of the retail shop so it was painted! the doors were removed to make it more of a display cabinet. My client was looking for some sort of wallpaper to use on the back to add some interest and texture but she didn’t find anything she liked so I suggested we use a stencil. I found this lovely bow stencil from The Stencil Library out of the UK. They have some gorgeous stencils and shipping didn’t take very long.
Voila the main piece! I’m so happy how it turned out and it looks fantastic in her shop.
So that is what has been keeping me busy along with a few other projects. I will be following up this post when the shop opens so you can see all the pieces pulled together. I can’t wait!
