WHY YOU CAN’T GO WRONG WITH CLASSIC SUBWAY TILE
When I’m designing for clients or working on my own spaces, subway tile is one of my go-to choices. It’s timeless, clean, and effortlessly stylish—not to mention budget-friendly. While some might see it as too simple or even boring, I’ve found the opposite to be true. A classic subway tile backsplash never feels dated, and I can almost guarantee you won’t get tired of it. It’s one of those design choices that always looks fresh, no matter the trends.
I love the way Sarah Richardson paired subway tile with marble in the shower of her country home. The combination strikes the perfect balance—the classic white subway tile tones down the movement of the marble, creating a space that feels both elegant and timeless. It’s absolutely stunning!
You can easily change up the look by using a darker grout—it adds contrast and gives the space a completely different vibe.
And it doesn’t have to be white—something as simple as a soft gray subway tile can make a surprisingly bold statement.
There are also so many creative ways to lay subway tile that add texture and visual interest. One of my favorites is the herringbone pattern—it brings a fresh twist to a classic look.
Isn’t this kitchen stunning with its soft gray subway tile? It adds such a subtle elegance—I’m obsessed!
I hope this has shown you that subway tile is anything but boring. It’s a timeless choice you truly can’t go wrong with—versatile, stylish, and always in good taste.
Happy decorating!
