Sophisticated Modern Farmhouse Powder Room Design

If you follow me on social media, you probably know—we’re in the middle of building our custom dream home. Designing every detail from the ground up has been an incredible process, and one of my absolute favorite spaces to design was… the powder room.

Why? Because it’s the one room where you can go a little more glam, a little more bold—and make a statement guests will remember.

The Design Vision: Modern Farmhouse Meets Chic Sophistication

For this space, I wanted to strike a balance between modern farmhouse warmth and elevated elegance. Think: clean lines, a pop of colour, black accents, and just enough contrast to keep things interesting.

Vanity: I wanted a vanity that would offer plenty of storage without feeling bulky, and the Bridgeport delivered. The 48" width is ideal for a larger powder room or main bath, providing a strong visual anchor while still allowing the rest of the room to breathe.

But what truly sold us? That sage green finish. It's calming, muted, and earthy—a color that feels both trendy and timeless.

Mirror: Oversized, arched, and black-framed. The soft shape brings a hint of glam without being fussy. I found a perfect one on Wayfair.

Lighting: Lighting can completely transform a space, and the Emily Sconce by Z-Lite does exactly that. We chose it for our powder room because it strikes the perfect balance between elegance and simplicity.

The Finishes

Wall color: Benjamin Moore Stonnington Gray HC-170. If you're searching for a soft, sophisticated gray that plays well in any space, Stonington Gray (HC-170) might just be your perfect match. It's a designer favorite—and for good reason.

Wallpaper Accent Wall: When you're looking to make a big impact without overwhelming a small space, a wallpaper accent wall in the powder room is the perfect solution. It gives you all the drama and character of wallpaper—without the full-room commitment.

When we set out to design our powder room, I knew I wanted something floral and feminine, but still fresh and elevated—and this wallpaper absolutely delivered. The Country Hydrangeas Wallpaper from Urban Walls became the heart of the entire design.

The lush hydrangea blooms feel nostalgic and soft, but not too busy.

Flooring: I chose Cosmo Black Hexagon tile by Julian Tile. Every room needs a touch of drama—and the Cosmo Black floor and wall tile delivers just that with elegance and edge. We used it in our powder room, and it became an instant focal point.
